Questions for the DR??????

Hello ladies,
I was wondering if you could help me to compile all the wonderful info on this site, into a list of good questions to ask the DR pre-op? I am going to see him on Thursday and although I know what I want to ask, sort of, I would appreciate any suggestions, in case I forget to ask something important!
My brain feels a bit fuzzy lately???????Must be the low blood?? Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!(LOL)Thanks in advance

Hi Sheila. Please think about writing down all of your questions so you can check to see that you have asked everything before you leave the office. You didn't say what type of procedure they plan to do, but here goes...

What exactly do you plan to do in this surgery?
What do you expect to find?
What types of things would cause you to need to expand the scope of the planned operation?
How long do you expect the procedure to be?
What are my anesthesia options?
How long do you expect me to stay in the hospital?
Please show me where you will make the incision and how long you think it will be.
Should I shave myself before the surgery?
Will you require any bowel preparation?
Is it appropriate for me to store some of my own blood?
How long should I plan on being off from work?
What will be involved in my preop visit?

You might want to ask how will they keep your pain in control?
Will Dr. come out and talk to your family after surgery?
what are to steps you must do before you are to go home?
