Help! abdomen pain b/f using the bathroom

Hi to all,

Had TVH on 3/13/07 & since then right before having to use the bathroom (BM only) I'm having very sharp abdominal pain. It goes away afterward & I am not constipated. Any ideas?

Hope everyone else is healing well.

SL, 41 years old, TVH kept ovaries...

Welcome to the club. For me it has gotten somewhat better. I still have discomfort at times but not always anymore.

my guess

My guess would be gas moving along with the BM and/or the BM putting pressure on sensitive tissues still trying to heal. When I was just a few days post-op, I talked to my Dr. about all the gas pain I was having. Couldn't distinguish gas pain from surgical pain. She said it was probably both. The gas was moving along my large intestine, bloating that and it then rubs against the stitched area.

I've also noticed that if my bladder gets the least bit full, I have lots of abd. discomfort.

We had surgery the same day! Hope recovery is otherwise going well for you! LJC

I agree, sounds like gas moving along with your bm and I had the very same thing happen to me early in my recovery. This will go away in time, but in the meantime it can be quite uncomfortable.I drank loads of water and tried to walk as much as I comfortably could and eventually bm became normal again.

Thanks for that info. I guess I'll hold tight until the gas passes so to speak. I'll be glad when the middle of my body gets back to normal. Who knew a Uterus could cause so much trouble?
