Oh, my achin' back!!

I am 20 days post-op today and my boys are full into baseball season now. I rested today because we had a game tonight and after a few innings I could not sit there any longer, I even took my own chair. My lower back hurt so bad I had to go to the car and recline the seat to get relief.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do to help it and how long does it last? I only have one more week before I return to work and I could not imagine having to deal with this back pain, which is 10 times worse than the stomach pain, on a daily basis.

Thank you for any input.

Oh, my achin' back!!

My back had been killing me too but it was much earlier out from the surgery. My best friend kept complaining about back ache after her hyst and it ended up she had a bladder infection. If you're really concerned about it, you might want to call the dr.

Hope you're feeling better soon!!!

I'm sorry you're back is hurting so much at the moment, but it does sound like you're overdoing things at this stage. You're not quite 3 weeks post-op yet and there's so much internal healing to be done.

It would definitely be worth having a word with your doctor, to check that everything is progressing as it should. Please don't take any risks with your recovery at this stage. Would you be able to get a little more time off before returning to work?

Take real good care and try to rest as much as possible for now.

Oh, my achin' back!!

Thank you for your replies. I called my doctor this morning and I have an appointment this afternoon. They mentioned urinary problems, but I don't feel like I have an infection going on, no fever or anything. But I am glad I am getting it checkd out, hopefully he can give me some relief. I'll post when I return.

Oh, my achin' back!!

Ok ladies, I am back from the doctor...

He said the back ache is related to my stomach muscles not being used right now and my back is 'picking up the slack'. He told me to take Motrin for the pain and to take it easy. There was no UTI or bladder infection, which was good news so I know I need to still take it as easy as possible and not be on my feet for too long.

I also found out that I have no stitches inside. I asked him how long my stitches would take to dissolve and he said the only stitches that I have are in the incisions on my belly and they take 3-4 weeks to dissolve. Hmmm...interesting, I thought I was loaded with stitches..nope..not one!!

Today has been a really good day, yesterday too except for the back ache. I am 3 weeks out today and hoping that everyday from this point forward only gets better. Thank you all for your replies. Best of luck to you all.
