4 days of gas pain- or something more??

Ok- I know I have been complaining of gas pain but I have tried GasX; stool softner; & now Domperidone- pain seems to be getting worse & now hard to walk.

I have been drinking water; eating fruit; etc; & keeping the diet fairly basic- no prior history of gas problems. I'm 2 weeks post op- TAH/BSO- severe endo discovered during surgery; 50 & was in good shape before surgery.

My gyno/surgeon is willing to see me tomorrow (Thurs.) but it will be 4 hr. round trip plus wait time while there.
Am I pushing the panic button? Is 4 d w/o eating much; pain so bad I'm crying & walking the floor- even at night; just part of the "process". Truly- I felt better 1 week ago than I do today- was sleeping better; eating better.

Anyone else gone through this? Is it "normal"??

I could see my local GP- who thank God referred me on but am scared maybe it is more than gas

4 days of gas pain- or something more??

Hi CanoeKeji
I'm sorry you are hurting like this. I think I would have to side on seeing the dr. What a shame it is so far. I just don't think its normal for you to feel worse rather than better. This doesn't sound like a normal part of the process to me.
Is it possible to fix a bed up in your vehicle to make this ride easier on you? You are also going to have to plan to stop and break the trip up so you can get out and walk around. You are still at risk for blood clots right now and need to be careful.
As long as you are going in be sure you think about any other questions you might have. Do you have adequate pain medication? You should be able to control your pain with the meds and by limiting your activities. You need to be able to eat to heal and get your strength back too. It concerns me that you don't feel like eating.
Please be sure to be very clear with your dr about how badly you are hurting and all that you have been experiencing. You don't want to go for nothing and being as clear as possible will help him know how to help you. If you need to, write it all down today so you can have a reminder and not forget anything.
I hope this all works out for you and you will soon be feeling better. Please keep us posted and let us know what you find out.

4 days of gas pain- or something more??

I'm only 3 weeks out and have had challenges with both gas and constipation (TAV/BSO) and not eating to keep things at bay. It seems like part of the problems are because the BM organs are "handled" during surgery and go through some trauma which impacts digestion.

From what you wrote, it sounds like you've tried everything so going to the doctor makes TOTAL sense. I've also read postings from sisters who had to go to the emergency room the pain was so bad, so please take care of yourself and get to a doctor as soon as you can.

Hugs to you as you try to find some relief. Hang in there!

I don't think you are pushing the panic button. I had my surgery a day before you and I don't have all that pain and gas problems. How are your bowels? Are they moving? A few days of no BM's can make you feel miserable, not wanting to eat and a lot of pain. I really think the trip would be worth it and do tell the doctor all your symptoms and all that you have tried. You might want to write things down before you go so you don't forget anything. Bring all your meds, prescription and otherwise.
Please let us know how things went. Hope you get help tomorrow.

Pain that is getting worse instead of better warrants a Dr's visit. If you think its too far to drive to see your surgeon dont hesitate to go to the closest emergency room

Good luck

4 days of gas pain- or something more??

Thanks folks!

I have writen it all down and will take ll meds. While the emerg is sloser, I think the gyn/surgeon may spot any other things. I feel like I am being a baby- it's "just gas" but I have had more discomfort with this than I ever had with the worst of periods over the 40 years I had those!

Last real BM was Sat so that likely is part of the problem. Maybe it is nothing but during surgery they actually contemplated taking part of bowels due to severe endo so it has me a bit freaked out.

Thanks again!

4 days of gas pain- or something more??

I remember a couple of years ago we had a member who thought her pains were caused by gas, went to the ER and they found a blood clot in her abdomen. Here's the link to that post:

Please let us know what your doctor tells you.

4 days of gas pain- or something more??

Hi All:

Back from seeing my gyno/surgeon- fortunately no infection. She did say due to the adhesions from endo- the bowel specialist she called in during surgery "rearranged things" so there are new curves & s-bendsin the bowel that take getting used to. They did this to avoid having to remove a section of the bowel so that's good I hope. Pain a bit better today- despite the 4 hour drive.

Also- she dold me not to take the Domperidone my GP had perscribed on Tues- maybe OK for irritable bowel but not for post-surgery folks. Wanted to pass that on in case anyone else encountered that recommendation.

So- here's to more fruit & bran; less pills & hopefully less pain!!

Thanks for the support
