Walking upright

Had one ovary and tube removed yesterday laproscopically. Walked hospital halls with nurse this am
and she encouraged me to stand straight when I walk. Finding this all but impossible as my ab muscles are sore. Am I doing myself damage? I am home and otherwise feeling good. Roughly 26 hrs postop.

Re: Walking upright

I see it's been a couple days since you posted. I hope by now you feel better so you can stand normally. I know once I felt better it took care of itself. I hope your recovery is going well.

Re: Walking upright

Yes, hope your recovery is going great. I had a nurse who forced me to walk after my oophorectomy. I hated her for doing it, but in the end, I know it helped me SOOOOOO much.

Hope you're feeling better soon!

Re: Walking upright

I am lots better--thanks! Standing straighter but not perfect yet. I try to walk continuously once daily (yesterday 15 mins, slowly and indoors) and I feel like I am using my hip flexors more than normal because my abs are not as strong. Was pretty athletic before surgery and beginning to see that it WILL come back but taking it slowly. Walking is ok, but the mechanics of it worry me!

Re: Walking upright

Yeah, It's hard to imagine what's going on inside of you since all we see are the little scars on the outside.

Glad you're feeling better, and I hope you continue on your path of recovery!
