hot flash question

I am 48 and had TAH/BSO on 11/16/04. My question is: how long do hot flashes last? Years? From perimenopause, menopause, whether natural or surgical? That is the only complaint I have and I don't want to commit to HRT forever. Thanks!

hot flash question

Hi,

Everyone is different if one is going through it naturally or having surgical menopause. My mother- in -law's periods stopped when she was early 40's and had hot flashes till 70. She did not take any hrt, just sweat it out. She did not believe in it.

I was 53 when I had my surgery had hot flashes then , I am 55 and still have hot flashes and dr said he has seen them go with periods 60 and hot flashes longer.

Hopefully we won't have them long or at least be bearable without the hrt.

hot flash question

It's been 2 years since my surgery, and I find that the hot flashes just fade away. I still have them, but they are shorter and less frequent than they were before

hot flash question

Hi,

I had my total hyst on 11-2-05 and I cannot take HRT and I was having horrible hot flashes/night sweats, so I went to my Natural Food Store and the owner suggested Estrotone by New Chapter. It has worked extremly well!!!

I have found that two things will still trigger a hot flash:

1. Stress. I have learned to destress myself (or at least deal with a stressful situation differently).

2. Alcohol. I would rather do without a drink than have a hot flash!!! hahahaha

Hang in there and God Bless!!
