New & Help!!

Hi all. I am brand new to this board but have a question. First a little background. I am 37 years old and had a total hyster at 26. Severe Endometrosis and a family history of ovarian cancer. I started out on Premairn (Can't remember the doseage 2 something). I know it was high because after eight years i moved and changed gyn and she choked when I told her the doseage I was on. She actually took me off them. I moved again and went it to my new gyno after about 1 1/2 off of hrt. He was shocked I wasn't taking anything and put me back on them. This time Estrace 1 mg. After being on Estrace for about 6 months I developed two breast lumps and my left breast was extremely painful. Went through mammo, US and finally excisional biopsy. Luckly they were beign. Well now by left breast is extremley painful again and I am pretty sure that I have another breast lump. The last ones were not cysts. Although my orignal gyn (the one the prescribed the Estrace) was sure they were. I can't remember the exact patholgy but there were solid, but b9.

Anyways, my questions are - Has anyone else experienced breast pain and lumps on hrt? Should I be concerned about hrt and breast cancer? Being on hrt for almost 11 years....

Thanks for the help!!!

New & Help!!

Hi Reflecttion - welcome to the sisterhood! Painful breasts usually mean too much estrogen. I think lumpy breasts could also mean too much - I have a friend who had that problem, and when she lowered her dosage, they went away. How did you feel when you were totally off HRT? If you didn't feel too bad, then maybe you only need a very low dose. Most doctors assume that the younger you are, the more estrogen you need, but that isn't always true. Anyway, I sure hope you get it all figured out soon.

New & Help!!

Thanks Kaylaluv. Funny thing is that I didn't have this problem when I was on the high dose of Premarin. However, I was much younger. After my last biopsies by breast surgeon had me cut my estrogen to taking it every other day. I love her she is awesome doctor. However, I think I need to find a gyn that will treat me as an individual when it comes to my hrt. I just don't think this one is right for me. I am having side effects that I haven't had before. I really didn't feel bad when I was off hrt. I lost weight, had energy etc. I did have some hot flashes when I first went off it but those subsided over time. Hopefully, we can find a solution soon. The stress everytime I find a lump is awful. I always just tell myself that they are b9, but to be safe they have to do the usual round of test. Very nerve racking until you get the results.

Thanks for the help.
