1 week no BM

Sorry I know this is gross but should I be worried that I have not had a bowel movement in the week since surgery? I can pass gas.

Oh no sister you need to take action about it! Have you taken any stool softener or metamucil yet? I advise you start right now,also begin taking prune juice,oatmeal,flaxseed, a lot of fibers,& avoid gassy food, all of that really helped me a lot. Talk to your Dr because it's not good to be constipated if you strain yourself to have a bowel movement you will put too much stress in the stitches. Best wishes in you recovery.

i feel your pain.. i went three days and was so bloated and had a lot of gas on my tummy i couldnt stand it...stool softner or a saline laxative (philips milk of mag is what i used)..hope you feel better soon...you are not alone

Warm prune juice helped me! I had tried everything else, and when the Dr. told me to warm the prune juice first, it worked!

Miralax is working for me.

I went 6 days and the Dr. wasn't concerned as I was passing gas. I heated up the prune juice and while it was disgusting it worked. I would get on that though. The first one can be a tiny bit uncomfortable.

Thank you everyone! I have been taking stool softners since Monday and started Metamusal(SP?) yesterday. I have been takingnotes like someone on preop suggested. I looked back and I did have a little diarahha with gas Wed. morning so I feel a little better....at least I know it still works. I guess it is time for prune juice! Yuck ....but it has to be better then this!! Thanks again!!!
