Anybody else saying "What?" a lot?

Hey all,
I am 6 days post-op for TLH. Dr. gave me percocet for pain relief. DH just suggested I have my hearing tested; he said he's noticed that I am asking what was just said, or not hearing noises, etc. a lot recently...is anybody else noticing similar problems? Does it go away once I'm off the meds? I'll definitely ask my Dr. about this but just wondering if anybody else is in the same boat. (I'm a music major so the hearing thing is oh, just kinda-sorta important.)
Thanks!

Re: Anybody else saying "What?" a lot?

Hi Ceceboo,

Wow, I can so relate!! I experienced the same thing with percocet. It's like I was zoned out and had to ask someone to repeat something multiple times, and even then I may not have actually absorbed/heard what they had said! For me, it went away once I stopped the meds.

Healing thoughts to you!!

I think it's a combo of the pain meds and maybe some fluid build up in the ears from laying around so much. I've had the same issue.

Re: Anybody else saying "What?" a lot?

I have a feeling that it isn't your hearing but just that your mind is tuning out stuff because of the meds. I was on Percocet and was zoned out and not listening to anything. Once I was off, I was fine. Your brain is probably trying to keep up and just struggling because of the effects of the medicine. If you read the bottle on most of them, it says may cause dizziness and be careful when driving-due to being in a fog really. Hope you feel better.
