Continued bleeding

Hi Everyone,

I joined the board last year but didn't post much past my initial introduction. At the time I'd just been diagnosed with stage IV endo and was a few days away from surgery. I had the surgery which went well. I did two rounds of Lupron which I didn't care for and therefore opted out of the third round.

Fast forward to this month and my period started on schedule but then didn't stop. After a week I went back to my gyn and she put me on ageystin to try to stop it. She also mentioned the possibility of a hysterectomy as she suspects my endo has complicated into adenymosis which is causing my bleeding. Today I went back for an ultrasound and they found a new large cyst on my right ovary. She says the cyst is too large for laparscopy surgery and since she'll be going in with a full incision for the cyst, its time to consider doing a full hysterectomy at the same time. Her reasoning is that my endo symptoms and complications are going to continue to progress and the bottomline treatment is a hysterectomy.

So...here I am. Right now the only issue I'm having is the continued bleeding (next week will be a full month). And the bleeding is causing problems with my anemia too. I'm not in any significant pain and haven't had any related to the endo. My doc says there is a concern if the cyst ruptures or twists. She's also running tests to rule out cancer.

I will be going for a second opinion. And there's my complicated health insurance to navigate. I'm still unraveling issues and bills from the last surgery and am NOT looking forward to adding to that job at all.

Thanks for "listening". I appreciate a place like this to talk and get information.

Re: Continued bleeding

It's good that you are getting a second opinion. It sounds like you have tried other options without success but another dr. may know of something that will help you.

Sometimes I think insurance cos. make it hard to manage a claim so that you just won't go do surgeries and expensive stuff.

Re: Continued bleeding

I have an appt with another gyn next week. I'm going with two agendas. 1) to get that second opinion and 2) if she agrees that a hyst is needed, I will probably have her do it as she is a doc under the less expensive side of my insurance. It sucks to have to make a choice like that but I don't have the financial bandwidth to cover a surgery with my current gyn.
