Hi Tracy and welcome to Hystersisters

While I'm sorry you are facing surgery---I'm glad you found this site! it is a wonderful place for information and support pre and post hysterectomy. If you haven't found them already--there is a wealth of information in the Pull-Down Menus at the bottom of the home page. Read as much as you can and post any further questions that come up for you. The more you know about what to expect, the better prepared you will feel for your surgery.

Also, when I had my surgery, my recovery room was not in the maternity section of the hospital. I would hope that every hospital be sensitive to women who have just gone through this surgery. Can you request that you be placed elsewhere? I would take this all the way to hospital administration, if necessary.

I wish you the very best.

's and Blessings,

Welcome Tracy!

You will be fine. I am 34 and had LAVH, BSO, A&P repair, and perinealplasty. I had my surgery on Dec. 3rd and I am feeling better than I have in years. I to went through all of the emotional problems with never being able to have more children. I wasn't ready to make that decision, but medically it was not advised. It still upsets me deeply. And not everyone understands that, even my DH. I know I should be grateful for what I have and I am.
But I can't help but feel upset that the decision was made for me. I was not put on the Maternity floor after my surgery I was put on the surgery floor. Love and prayers, Jeana

Hi Tracy - welcome! I was put on the maternity floor after my surgery and it didn't cause me any problems. I even went and looked at the new babies everyday. But if that's a problem for you (and I do understand why - it's just that I'm grandmother age) please call and tell them. I'm sure that they have had the same request before and can change your room. Best wishes and s
