LAVH - Lupron worked

4 months ago I had a 16wk size uterus from fibroids. Lots of pressure on my bladder. Doctor said it was too big for vaginal hyst, however I could take Lupron to try to shrink it. I posted to this site & got several replies sharing their experiences with Lupron. Now it's 4 months later & the fibroids have shrunk to maybe 10wks - small enough that I'm scheduled to have a LAVH 1/29/01 (leaving ovaries - I'm 49 & have had breast cancer & cannot take HRT so want to go through menopause slowly).

I'll be glad to have hormones again but it really wasn't that bad. The worst part has been minor insomnia & night sweats - nothing that was impossible to live with. I would have taken the Lupron for only 3 months but my original doctor had to have hip surgery - found this out at my third shot.

So I have a week to go. I'm not totally freaking out, just somewhat apprehensive lol. I'm sure I'd be very scared without this site. Knowing what to expect helps. I read all the Princess stories & see other women getting through it and figure I will too.

I'm sure I'll be reading on the site a lot this week to keep my courage up. I'll share my story when I'm on the other side.

Alice
