Gaining MORE weight!

It's been a year and and 5 months since the surgery. Back then, I used to weigh about 140. Now I am up to 180!
I am excersising by doing the stationary bike for 30 min each day, I try to eat less junk food. Problem is that I get super hungry at night so that is when I might eat some chips. I really need an appetite suppresent. I do drink lots of water.
Any ideas?
Than you.

Re: Gaining MORE weight!

Well... hate to say it, but all the exercise in the world won't prevent weight gain if you eat more than you burn up.

I guess it's those tempting chips!
Or maybe you felt a bit depressed after your hyster. and the food is a comfort.

I once was a comfort food eater but have been a normal weight for about 25 years, and all I can say is that I stopped eating between meals except for rare occasions, and watched my portion sizes, as well as walking a lot and cycling. Now it's just a way of life that doesn't feel like deprivation at all, and it isn't. I enjoy the sense of lightness and ability to wear a wide choice of clothes!

Starting is hard, but that's the most hard part. Perhaps stop and ask yourself if you are really hungry, physically... or just emotionally?

Can you take up an enjoyable craft that involves your hands, where you need to keep your hands clean - like knitting? You might not then be so likely to reach for the chips! .

Good luck and don't despair!

Re: Gaining MORE weight!

I do suffer depression even before the surgery. I am on meds for that.
Tonight I WILL try not to eat anything, just water. Thanks!

Re: Gaining MORE weight!

Another thing to try: measure your portions, and log everything you eat. Try doing this for a couple of weeks. It can be eye opening to discover exactly how much you are consuming. I make a point of putting a serving of a snack on a plate or bowl, then putting the container away. If I'm hungry for more, fine, but I won't eat more by accident. Most people will eat less just by logging their intake.

Don't deprive yourself, just be mindful of your eating. It's an effort, but totally worth it. I know you can do it!
