Help Quick

So I am almost 2 weeks out from my lavh. Just a bit ago I was outside for a minute and I got this sharp almost debilatating pain that went from my left side from my neck down to my elbow. The two most painful points were the beginning point of my neck and my elbow. Than dh was rubbing my arm a little above my elbow and the pain went down to my wrist. My arm almost felt numb but not completely if that makes sense. So I put a heating pad on and took a pain pill and that seems to be helping.

But my questions are should I be concerned? And if it comes back should I have dh take me to the er or just let it go? I don't know what it could mean if anything at all.

YOu need to call your dr and tell him about the pain you are experiencing. I had pain in my abdominal area, but never in my neck and arm. Let us know how you are and what you find out.
SInce it is SUnday, you might call your ER and explain to them and see what they recommend.

It sounds like it could be a pinched nerve. The nerves in your neck go down your arms into your fingers. If it happens again I would call your primary care doctor and get it checked out. Sometimes it can be managed with anti-inflammatory medications. There are tests that can be done by a neurologist to see where exactly the nerve is pinched. (Nerve Conduction Study)

Hope you feel better!

I get those sometimes but it sounds like your ulna nerve. Does it go down your arm to the backside of your elbow and then on your wrist is it on the outside more towards your ring and pinky finger? IF that sounds like it then its your ulna nerve pinched somewhere, this is where Dr think carpal tunnal actually starts, but I digress, I have a pinched ulna nerve and I get such pain down my arm. If it something that has you really worried I would call your Dr and have him explain how that arm was positioned during surgery and if anything was put in that arm.
Take care I hope I helped a little.

Yes, you should be concerned. Please call your Dr. or call the Emergecy Room ASAP and talk to the doctor on call. Only a doctor can tell you if what you experienced is normal. I would personally be more worried about the pain being on the left side of the neck and left arm than I would if it were on the right side.

Please call and speak to a doctor. It can't hurt to call....if it's nothing then no harm done, and if it's serious the doctor will lete you know.

Hey...just logged on and saw....Are you O.K.? I hope you called in and checked on this. It does sound a bit like a pinched nerve...but I say better safe than sorry. I wanted to check on you anyway and see how things were going. Let me know what's going on when you get logged back on....I've got ya in my prayers.

Sorry all the pain pill kicked in and I fell asleep. I have never had a pinched nerve so don't know what that feels like. But this on the pain scale was about a 9.

So as of now I am not having those sharp pains but the area between my neck and elbow feels funny. I don't even know how to explain it. It is almost like a burning/numbness sensation. But it is not really numb.

I do have an appt in the morning to have my incisions relooked at cause they think I overdid it so I am hoping I can just make it until than, but we decided that if that horrible pain returns dh will take me to the er.

Does it feel as if your arm is so tired it aches and wants to fall off? This is the only way I can describe how mine feels when I have an episode.

I do however think that you need to call the Dr. Everyone reacts differently to the different things we go through and the different pain meds. Better to be safe and call.
