hey renee, i had an LAVH on 10/28/02, i did not have any cancer problems, but as far as the surgery, it was a breeze. i did not even have to take any pain medicine at all, not to say i wasn't hurting a little after the surgery, but i am not real big on medicine head, so i chose to just tough out the pain for a little while. the day after my surgery, i felt great, i guess i was one of the lucky ones, and i surely hope you will be too..........you will be in my prayers.............good luck!!!!!!!

I am so nervous about my upcoming surgery (Nov. 26). I have a trip to India schedualed for Jan. 7,'03 for a month. I will be five weeks post-op when I leave. I have a great hotel, not planning lots of tours, as it's a DH business trip. Surgery isn't a "must" have right now, now I'm thinking I should I put it off till I get back. Most of my friends say yes, but none of them have had lavh. The surgery is to repair bladder, no cancer or bleeding issues. My doctor says he sees no problem with travel at that time with the Lavh. But, of course, he's never had one either.

Thanks for you words of support. As it happens, I have cancelled my surgery until I return in Feb. I was in the midst of some oral surgery, had my mouth full of stiches and then sneezed. I didn't damage the stiches, but pulled and tore a bunch of muscles over my ribs -- trying not to sneeze. Now, I am on pain killers and sleeping sitting up on the couch to try to find some rest. Can't believe you can do things like this when you are "trying to be careful". I love Hyster Sisters and hope my own sister will be logging on soon, as she was just scheduled for a trip to the castle! XOXO to all

Sorry it's took me so long to get back, but i have been busy at work. And trying to get my house in order before I go for surgury.
I went Wed. and had my pre-op at the hospital. They took 5 tubes of blood, chest x-ray and my last biospy. I know tommorrow if the pre-cancer has turn to cancer yet. I have to be at the hospital wed. morning at 9:45 for my surgury. I have to give myself a enima the night before, That should be fun. Well I will let you all know how it goes. And thank you for all you prayers, and mine are with all of you

Hugs back to 'ya, sis! One note on the enema business. I've had to do a "few" of these. This a very personal time, and to do what I needed to do, I do the following: made sure everyone knew I needed "private time" in the bathroom, (I felt a locked door could be a problem if I needed some sort of help, you never know), then got as comfortable as I could on my side laying on the floor on a big towel and went for it. When I first had to do these, I usually didn't wait as long as I needed to and rushed to the throne too soon. Make sure you follow the package directions, and grit you teeth down to the last moment.

My LAVH was 11/01. I wanted out of the castle the next morning. They made me wait until after lunch. I had originally been scheduled for a LEEP for Severe dysplasia, but when biopsy came back the Dr said it was Carcenoma In-situ and changed it to LAVH. After the surgery when I went to have stiches removed DR said pathology report came back showing I had had Invasive cervical cancer but at the earliest stage and the Hyst took care of it. I am cancer free and only kept my ovaries. I almost feel back to normal except that I do tend to tire easier. It may sound strange but I have taken this whole experience as a blessing. So many bad things COULD have happened but so much good has come from it. God really works wonders. My family and I are so much closer after this. Just listen the DR orders and take it easy.(even when you start to feel better) and thank God for getting diagnosed early. My prayers are with you. You will be fine.
