Scared!!

I'm having both ovaries and uterus removed. Ovaries have large cysts on them and I had ovarian cysts removed in 1973. I'm not only fearful of the procedure, but the possible weight gain and that without my ovaries, I'll turn into a raving lunatic with wild mood swings.

Could you ladies give me some feedback on any of the above. I appreciate this website and all of the support you give each other. It's wonderful.
Thanks,
Jane

Scared!!

Hi, I had a tah/bso 2 1/2 years ago. I actually lost a few pounds at first because I had no appetite and couldn't eat much at a time anyway. I am still pretty much the same weight now as before surgery. I'm not overweight. BTW - I'm fairly close to your age also.

I started on hrt the morning after my surgery. I did have some "surgical menopause " symptons that cleared up after we found the correct dosage for me. I have been told by my dr that I could take it for about 5 or 6 years and then I'll taper off. I said that we'd "discuss" it then Anyway, I do have my ups and downs - but nothing out of the ordinary for most people, I think.

Best wishes.

Scared!!

Hi Jane,

I'm pre-op too, so can't answer your question, but just wanted to say hello. My surgery is less than 2 weeks away, and I'm wound up like a top! So...I completely understand the fear part. I've been distracting myself in my down time with movies, and relaxation CDs.

There is a forum for hormone questions - maybe you can get some answers there. Sending you best wishes!
