Anybody still bleeding? Sked for Monday and scared

Thank God for this site! I'm on track and feeling pretty excited (a great relief from the fear)...and now one more little complication. Woke up early this morning bleeding and am nervous about my iron levels. It's Saturday and I'll call the doctor's exdhange if it continues but my dh just suggested I "take it easy" today. Will that help? I've left so much for the last minute!

i had a full blown bad period during my surgery. I woke up not bleeding. My uterus was gone. I was embarrassed, but they see that all the time. I did have a pad between my legs and no underwear. Go figure.

I didn't ahve my period when I went in to surgery but I still woke up with a pad and no panties to catch any bleeding from the surgery. Drs see thsi all the time. The last visit I had with my dr before my pre-op I was on my period but when you bleed25 days out of the month you don't really have a choice.

It is embarassing though....lol

I am scheduled for Monday and expect my period to start either tomorrow or first thing Monday AM! I told the doctor and he said not to worry about it.

Best of luck to you!

Believe it or not- I'm not embarrassed about the bleeding- I'm worried that the bleeding is gonna screw things up for my surgery. I just want things to go OK and not have to resked or be transfused.

Still bleeding?? I can't wait to stop bleeding...lol. I, too, was embarrassed at when I initially went in April to schedule my hysterectomy. I knew the doc was gonna exam me and I told them that I was bleeding. His reply was "well, if we wait for you to stop then we would never get you in here !!" Good point. I've been bleeding almost continuously since Feb. I have had a couple of times the bleeding stopped for maybe a week. Right now I'm 5 days until my surgery and I'm still bleeding crazy. Even after the lupron shot. I don't care if i'm bleeding the day of the surgery. Just so long as when I wake up... the bleeding is done. I remember at one of my exams, after my doc finished, I saw him bending over and cleaning off the bottom of his pant leg -- oops. I felt kinda bad and apologized even tho it wasn't something I could control. He just laughed and brushed it off. All part of the job.

Okay, I understand! Once the date is set, you just want it to hurry up and get here already!

They won't reschedule for that. And it shouldn't be any cause for a transfusion either. Good luck with surgery.

I started my cycle this past Monday. It came a week early. I guess my uterus wanted to give me one last visit from Aunt Flow before surgery. But I'm still having minor cramping and light spotting.

I'm anemic right now and I worry about blood transfusions. I'm taking Chromagen/iron and something else for B-vitamins and folic acid. I'm hoping by the time I have surgery my levels are okay. (My date isn't set yet. I have a consult on the 27th with gyno)
When I had my colon surgery back in 96 I did fine, but I wasn't having heavy periods then either.

My question is..with this type of surgery is there a lot of bleeding? Or does it depend on the type performed?
(I've only had one surgery-lapro colon surgery, and I didn't have much bleeding at all) Just wondering...

Thanks
