Back in hosp 11 hours after being discharged

I just came home yesterday from the hospital a second time after developing a paralytic ileus. That means the bowel went to sleep a couple of days after surgery. Symptoms were terrible vomiting/an ER visit/insertion of a naso-gastric tube(4 days)/hospital readmission lasting a week. Developed a slight fever;surgical consult removed some staples, opening the wound and found a "seroma"--a collection of serum which can cause a temp. Now I have an opening which drains needing the visiting nurse to change the packing every day until it heals. Fortunately the bacterial culture was negative.
Otherwise I am OK.

I had the ileus too. It was miserable trying to vomit with staples in. Take care. It does get better.

I can't say that I had a similar experience, but wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and hope that you are on the road to recovery now. Hang in there....

I remember laughing once at the hospital, and bringing myself to tears. I am literally cringing at the thought of throwing up with the pain you must be going through. My heart goes out to you - I truly hope you have some good days ahead. (it sounds like you are way overdue for them!)
