Anyone with nausea post-op???

It will be 3 weeks on Thursday since my TAH and I am still feeling sick to my stomach. I hardly have an appetite and when I do eat I feel sick for hours. Having car sickness too. Called my OB-GYN when I first came home and the nurse told me to call my GP. I went to my GP this morning because I have a blood clot at the IV site and he told me that he couldn't help me and I should talk to my OB-GYN!! Help!

Re: Anyone with nausea post-op???

Hi rimbaz1!

Sorry to hear that you are going through all this and neither Dr seems to want to cooperate.

At this point I would call the OB/GYN again and tell the nurse that your family Dr said that it should be gyn seeing you. If you can't get the nurse to get you in there, ask to speak to the Dr directly (because you would not want to get to your post-op check and have the Dr give you trouble for not seeing him/her about this). Maybe if you put it that way, the nurse would realise that the Dr might give her trouble if she doesn't let you in.

I found that the pain meds sometimes gave me nausea and I took Gravol pills. I would check with Dr or pharmacist to see if it would interfere with other meds first.

Hope you get this sorted out. Keep us posted!!

Hugs,
Suzanne

I was wondering if you were still on narcotics, they can cause nausea sometimes...hope you get it figured out soon....your nausea is not accompanied by a bad headache is it?

Re: Anyone with nausea post-op???

I was nauseus for weeks! Eat, vomit a little, go on with things. Drove my huband crazy! Part of it was antibiotics, but it went on for another week or so after the antibiotics.

Re: Anyone with nausea post-op???

oh gosh, rimbaz! mine opened up on the left side! thankfully we caught it quickly and it was not infected yet. now we are packing the area and changing the dressing twice a day. No biggie. thankfully my scar/incision is still pretty numb, so it does not even hurt really, just king stings on the sides. hope yours gets taken care of quickly.
