Orangekitten brought up a good point about exercise. The better shape you are prior to the surgery, the easier the recovery will be. Strong leg and arm muscles are priceless and will make life much easier. Your arms will get your out of bed and chairs, you leg muscles will get you on and off the toilet seat.
