5 days since surgery, no longer the patient. help!

5 days after surgery, no longer patient... help!

Hi everyone! I'm new to the page. I just had hysterectomy on Thursday (5 days ago). I'm 39. Had my uterus and cervix removed. Had cysts on my ovaries that burst during surgery and needed to be sutured. I came home Saturday to a sick 4 year old. My son is running temperatures and has been vomiting. I have been caring for him (all through the night too). Haven't slept in 2 days. Dizzy, nauseated, pain, tired, etc... low grade fever of 101, (this one is me!). I don't know what to do! I am ready to crawl into a hole! I just want to cry.

I don't even know what I'm asking. Maybe I'm just sharing. Sorry! Thanks for listening!

That is what we are here for,so share away. I would give your doctor a call,101 isn't really low grade. Better to be on the safe side and make sure you have no infection. I hope both you and your little one are feeling better soon

I'm sorry your going through so much. Do you have someone who can help you,so that you can get some rest?
It's tough when you have to take care of your child when you need TLC also. Take care.

I would call your doctor about your symptoms, it may be he could prescribe some Phenergan or Zofran to help with the nausea - definitely wouldn't want to be vomiting with this surgery!! I hope someone is able to lend you a hand so you can rest and that you and your little one both feel better soon!

Oh, I'm so sorry you're going through this! If you have anyone you can call for help, please do it. This is definatley more than you should be doing, and although your son will likely get through his illness soon, you really need to think of your own healing!!!

Re: 5 days since surgery, no longer the patient. help!

I am so sorry. I had an abdominal hysterectomy 5 weeks ago today and I came home to an empty house and could never imagine having to take care of someone else, I couldn't even help myself. I was lucky and I had someone coming by every day to help me with different things that I couldn't do. If there is any way possible, you need to find some others that could stop by and help so that you can get the recovery time you need and deserve. I have heard over and over, you only get to recover the right way one time and you don't want to pay for it later in life. Know that we are here for you, I will keep you in my prayers. I hope you can find some help and that your family gets better. Please take care of yourself!

Re: 5 days since surgery, no longer the patient. help!

You definitely need to call the DR about your fever. Only .4 degrees and it is an official fever, so there is something going on that shouldn't be. I hope and pray someone will come and help you! It is hard enough to recover the first couple of weeks with a support system, but to have to care for a sick child as well! Please rest as much as you can, and call your DR!!
