5/26 TAH - I'm Home and feeling great!

I just got home a few hours ago and so far so good. A bit stiff but feeling great. I had my TAH on 5/26 at 7:45 am. I was a bit weepy before the surgery but the A Man gave me something to calm my nerves and next thing I knew, I was in recovery. Freezing but doing fine. They pilled on a bunch of warm blankets and that was great. They moved me to my room and I was pretty much out of it after that until later that evening. My doctor and friends came by but I was so out of it that I don't remember much.

I didn't have much pain until this morning - the overnight nurse didn't dispense my meds as directed so I went longer than necessary without pain control - make sure you stay on top of that.

The next day my doctor explained everything that was done. He attempted a LAVH but my uterus and fibroids were too big and he didn't want to keep me under long than necessary so he did a TAH. I had a 10-12 week size uterus, 4 baseball sized fibroids and he had to remove my left ovary. It had a cyst with hair and wax on it !! How gross that sounds!! He said sometimes they can have bone and teeth! Yuck! I'll do more research on this and tell you more later.

I'll send more info in the coming days. Just wanted to say hello and let you guys know that you're the best and I'm so glad I found you guys. What a wonderful support group and I post more later.

I had my TAH on 5/26 also...7:30AM.

I just realized that earlier I put up a thread that stated I had a total on 5/25...opps! I meant 5/26!

Anywways...good to know I'm not alone!

I had a small tumor in my cervix, a large fibroid at the top of my uterus and possibly some cysts on one of my ovaries...not sure. But did the total route just so I wouldn't have to bother with this type of surgery every again!!!!!

And I am having some problems with BM's and swollen belly. I bruise very easily and the doc said that I am very bruised internally also. Oh well, hopefully a few supositories and some prune juice will help immediately and lots of rest will help in the long run.

Glad that you're OK. Sounds like you are doing well. Send some wellness my way will ya?? my poor hubby is tired of going to the pharmacy every couple of hours for more 'relief' for me!!!
