Wow. They really hurt taking out the staples???
Happy you are feeling better. I think I have 10 in there. Tummy is getting less numb - feeling stiiches but no pain.
Will I have pain after staples removed??

Re: These staples really hurt

Happy belated birthday! You are still you without a few troublesome spare parts, and you are not the only one who feels this way. I know you feel bad right now, but you are getting better every day. Celebrate your new cancer-free life!

Rivieg, it didn't hurt me at all to have my staples removed. I told the nurse that I've had pedicures that were more uncomfortable. A couple hours afterwards I felt light burning and my pouch over my incision felt a little extra swollen. I had mine removed 5 days post op.

Re: These staples really hurt

I'm also wondering what to do about the pouch. This is my third abdominal surgery and it has got bigger each time. Cosmetic surgery next?
Pattygr - happy birthday and congrats on the good biopsy report. And I think your grief at the loss of your "parts" is quite normal, despite your advancing age! I'm 55 and had those same feelings, even though there is no way I'd want more children, the knowledge that I definitely can't reproduce anymore was strangely sad. Feeling better about it now and I think the hrt is definitely helping with my mood and the adjustment to it all. The crying for no apparent reason was not fun. Can you take hrt?

Re: These staples really hurt

Thank you all for the birthday wishes
Feeling better with each passing day, but I find now that I still can't sleep on my side.
The gas pains are still with me, and it's been 2 weeks already.
My regular doctor told me to use liquid anti-gas remedies, like Mylanta and what not...yuck. It helps for a while, but then starts back up again.
The incision is still a little tender, but bearable, except when it itches, I feel like I should tie socks on my hands so I don't scratch
Been spending time doing quiet a bit of sewing, I'm making a few sarees to wear, they're comfortable, pretty, loose fitting and they cover my swelly belly. I highly recommend one if you can find them in India ethnic clothing stores, especially if you're like me and don't care much for wearing dresses.
Still have an appointment with the oncologist so I can get the wherefores of how often I have to see him for regular check ups, etc.
