Back from Pre-op

Hello fellow LIW Sisters

I just wanted to write and let you all know that I had my pre-op for both the hospital and the dr yesterday afternoon. The hospital pre-op was no big deal. Lots of questions about history, allergies, etc. They also drew blood (the nurse said they have to document and prove that I am not pregnant)

Then off to the doc. Weight, blood pressure, etc. No physical exam - just a nice chat with DD. I took my list of pre-op questions from the pull-down menu on the home page and was prepared. He took time to answer all of my questions and reassured me some. I do not have to do the golyetly junk, but I do have to give myself an enema the night before Oh well.

The one thing that was slightly unnerving was his comment that just because my CA125 blood test came back normal, that does not completely rule out a possible malignancy in the growth. Although he feels rather confident the mass inside me is simply a big ball of endo.

No word on ovaries or not. I will definitely lose my right ovary. DD won't know about the left one until he gets in there. If endo is bad, the ovary goes. If the growth is something else - like a tumor or cyst, then it is possible to leave the ovary.

Everything else if fine... still scheduled for 5/10. Yeah

It's Real!

Kelley...
What a milestone! You've got your pre-op work all taken care of and are ready to rock & roll!! Yippee!!

Now you just have to find a way to manage the days between now and the 10th....make sure your home/recuperating space is the way you want it to be, do those last-minute errands, buy your favorite snacks & "comfort" foods and pack that bag!

Let the countdown begin!! Hooray!!

Try not to worry over the mass, sometimes they can't tell 100% till they have the path report and surgery is overwith. It's worrisome, but you need to concentrate on staying healthy for surgery..pamper yourself. Get your hair cut, legs waxed, a pedicure the week of surgery. One set of things you don't have to bother with during recovery. Your toes will look so pretty as the hair grows back!! LOL
Prepare where you'll rest and keep busy.
I had to do the enema, not fun, but best for the body! Drink tons of water, make sure you're not constipated going into the hospital. The anethesia can slow things down.
Remember; listen to the body, rest is key to recovery, and once you get back into regular clothes post-op, everyone thinks you're healed! Pajamas mean I'm resting or something at my house! Take care!!!
