Surgery Type: SAH

Ovaries: Removed both

Alternatives to morphine

Hi,
You might want to consider an epidural. I have a history of nausea and vomiting with anesthesia and pain meds so that is going to be my choice. I will still have general anesthesia for the surgery but they will place the epidural after I am knocked out and leave it in for two days after. The medication goes into the spinal fluid and causes much less systemic effects. This has gotten to be really popular pain control for c-section surgery so patients can be more alert and not in pain. Something to think about.
