Thigh numbness and cold 4th week after hysterectomy
Hi , on December 7th, 2015 I have stage 1 cancer, I had TAH and both overy, fallopion tube, pelvis lymph node removed and pelvis washed-up. I'm on 4th week now. I'm recovering well, but both of my thigh is numbess and cold and my tummy belly swell up when I'm walking. Is that normal? And the other issue on Jan. 3rd, I have really bad flu/cold and getting the cough/sneeze. My tummy starting to hurt a little because of coughing and sneezing. Do u think I should call my gynecologist or just go to the clinic

Re: Thigh numbness and cold on 4th week
I am not sure about the thigh numbness or coldness but I can relate to your sickness. I got mine at 11 days out and it was not nice. The tummy hurts when coughing and the only thing to somewhat help is a pillow against the tummy when coughing. Try cough drops and drink plenty of water to help.
Tummy swelling may be normal as mine swelled up in the afternoon as I did more.
I would at least call the doc to see why you are having thigh numbness. It could be from sitting too long or a pinched nerve..

Re: Thigh numbness and cold on 4th week
Is your thigh numbness a "surface" numbness - like when you touch the skin the sensation is not normal? Or is it deeper tissue like your leg is falling asleep? If it's deeper, you should talk to one of your Drs about that. This could be from the position you were in for surgery. Something could be out of alignment in your hips and you want to get that taken care of.
If it is a surface kind of numbness, this is very common. I had a rad/hys and it can be more common with that hys because they remove much more tissue. But the reality is, they do sometimes cut through nerves during the surgery. The good news is, those nerves will regenerate/make new pathways and the numbness will get better. My gyn/onc told me that nerves take a long time to heal and could take up to a year. By that point, any residual numbness left is part of your new normal and tends not to be troublesome. That was definitely my experience.
I have a very light numbness still around my scar which can be more annoying when something light brushes up against it as opposed to firm pressure so I tend to make sure my all my panties fit me well and don't get start to get loose - or they go in the trash!
Wishing you well in your recovery!

Re: Thigh numbness and cold 4th week after hysterectomy
Hi there, I had a TAH in October and still have numbness in my upper right thigh, also my right toe. I too believe it will go away in time.. I had stage 1A cervical cancer and have just had tissue sent for biopsy (granulation issues) and silver nitrate treatment. Long roads for us all but light at the end of the tunnel I'm certain.. God Bless all..

Re: Thigh numbness and cold 4th week after hysterectomy
I was numb for months because of the epidural and how I was positioned during surgery. I would say if something is concerning you, no matter how small, give the surgeon a call. I called my surgeon with all of my questions and only had to come in once. One of those questions was about the numbness in my thigh. I didn't have to go in for that though.
