How many days in the hospital

Elaine, what did you have done? I can't believe they wanted you out of there a day after! Those insurance companies....(bleep bleep bleep)

I'm having a TAH/BSO next Tuesday and my doctor said they'll discharge me on Friday.

I had a TAH only thing I kept was my ovaries. I went in Friday morning came home Monday afternoon.

honeys - I had a LAVH, laproscropic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. Had ovaries and tubes removed as well. My doctor promised me he would not rush me out too soon. He doesn't like hospitals, says you can catch illness there. I finally asked if they wanted me to sit on the sidewalk so they could fill my bed. It was not pretty. I don't think the dr realized how much this one nurse was harrassing me to leave. She was relentless, saying things like "how can we get you to leave" and "if i give you a certain pain pill will you leave?"
The dr called and apologized later that evening. Too late. Then I had a wonderful nurse who told me to forget about going home and we could worry about that when the pain was manageable with oral meds.
I'm not a fan of ins. companies.

I had a LAVH. I went in for surgery on a Monday morning, and was relased the very next day. So for me, I spent one day. I realize there is more going on with a TAH so I'd bank on 2-4 days for sure.

I wanted to go home sooner than they sent me. I didn't get any good sleep in the castle. Every two hours they came in to check my vitals, and check the pad, ask me question etc. I was glad when I went home. They took cath out the very next morning, and took me off of the pain pump right away as it was making me sick sick sick.

They want you up and walking, passing gas, and managing your pain before you leave. They would also like to see that you are peeing enough. I know the one woman was like "Wow, your bladder is working so well", that 's good news!
