Afraid I tore something loose...
I leaned back in my rocking and swiveling recliner and took a nap earlier today, and when I woke up, really need to go to the bathroom, so I pushed on the footrest to make it go down and it wouldn't go -- I had to push REALLY hard on it and I did it before I remembered that I shouldn't.
Now I am hurting where my uterus used to be -- not horribly, but a little more than I had been hurting.
I know no one can give medical advice, but I'm scared I tore something loose -- any comments or advice?
Thanks,

I would rest and not do anything. If the pain gets worse -call your Dr.

Just take it very easy. If you see new blood or the pain gets worse then call the doctor. Best wishes.

Hope you are ok this evening. I agree with everyone else. Take it easy, check your site and watch for any unusual bleeding.

Re: Afraid I tore something loose...
I know what you mean...I had TVH on June 10, and the recovery was going TERRIFIC, until this weekend, when at 5 weeks post-op, with the Dr.'s ok, I went to see my granddaughter, Emma, and picked her up LOTS and carried her and held her....and now I feel like I did at 1-2 weeks post-op! I called the nurse today, but didn't get a call back, so will call again tomorrow. It hurts and feels like more pressure....and I'm mad, as I was so very careful, and would not have picked up Emma if Dr. had said not to do so yet...
Anyone else out there have problems weeks after the surgery with recurrence of pain from lifting/overdoing, and if so, did you get checked out by Dr. or what????
Thanks....

Re: Afraid I tore something loose...
I'm 2 weeks post op and I'm trying to very careful. If I drop something on the floor I use my feet to pick it up or I carefully bend (this probably isn't a good idea). It's so difficult to be so dependent on others to help. In response to hurting yourself, I understand the constant fear. A couple of days ago, I was really constipated. The bm was really hard and hard to pass. I have been taking a stool softener and milk of mag. I had to do some pushing. I know this is graphic, sorry. I was so afraid that I was tearing stitches. I'm not quite sure how to prevent the hard stools in the future. I have increased my fiber and water intake. Any advice is welcome.

I have been using Miralax and stool softeners since the surgery on June 10, and continue to do so--and it works well Good luck!

Re: Afraid I tore something loose...
I had LAH on 6/10/10 and other than fighting a bladder/UTI infection, felt on top of the world after about 4 days post-op. I was given no restrictions after 2 1/2 weeks, and I obviously overdid it. I am 34 and have felt about 104 for the last 10 years or so, so once I felt "better" I thought that was license to go wild. I was doing way too much - too soon - and I began bleeding ALOT at about 4 weeks. I had to use tampons for about 2 days. Let me tell you, there is nothing like having a hysterectomy and then getting your "period" to make you stop and reevaluate your actions!!! The dr. said everything looked okay...he wasn't sure what was causing all of the bleeding but that we should monitor it. I think that I was on the right path at first, but once the dr. said to start living again, it was like I was being released from blood prison and then I put myself right back in!
Please, sisters, please - don't overdo it!!! I am so sorry that I didn't behave better and know that I would feel much better had I not bled so much. It really set me back - especially emotionally - so please take my advice and SLOW DOWN!

Re: Afraid I tore something loose...
My DR released me to do all my normal activities. But she told me to do whatever I think I could do. If it hurts don't do it. If you feel some strain in the stomach then stop. I do lift some things but I make sure not to over do it. I don't have much time left before I go back to work so I'm trying to be careful.
