New Here - Laproscpic hysterectomy

Hi there,

I am new here....I had a supercervical laproscopic Hysterectomy one month ago on June 22nd....They took out my uterus, and one ovary as it was diseased to much from endometriosis..... I kept my cervix.

I am doing very well, the incisions are healing up nicely.....The belly button incision is still tender and a stitch was sticking out of my skin and that broke off, so now it is oozing, but I assume it will get better.

Five days after the surgery I developed a fever which I took tylenol for...then I developed a urinary tract infection, which I got meds for...and then a week after surgery I started leaking urine from my vagina.......I was freaked out to say the least, so I called my doctor, and he said since my surgery was so extensive (my uterus was size of 3 months pregnancy with many fibroids) and ( I had many adhesions and scar tissue removed) he said that a small hole might have developed in the bladdar.....since everything is so close to the uterus.

So I had to see a uroligist, and he put a cathedar in, which I have had it in for two weeks, and it is very uncomfortable to say the least.........There is a small hope that if the catheder keeps the bladdar dry for two weeks the hole might heal by itself.....If not I have to go to a specialist to have a systoscopy and see if they can locate the hole/leak, and see how it can be repaired.....

So, I am bummed about the bladdar problem.......Anyone else had this as a result of their surgery? If so, please share, it would truly help....

Otherwise, I am feeling great one month after the surgery....
Sorry for the lengthy post......

I also had the laproscopic supercervical hysterectomy - kept my ovaries and cervix and I just went back to the dr. because my left side incision wasn't healing like the other two - it's still red and oozing just a tad of blood and it just seemed that as soon as it would scab, it would start to ooze again. Come to find out, the nurse said that I had a stitch that didn't disolve was still in there and she took it out with some tweezers and told me to put neosporin on it and it should heal real fast.
Other than that, I feel great at 5 weeks.

Hi, thanks for writing.....Glad you are feeling good.
I am at 4 weeks, feel pretty good...I have same problem in my belly button incision, there was a stich sticking out there, and I rubbed it off and then it was oozing, Iput some peroxide on, and now it seems to be healing.

I am just depressed over the urine leaking problem as a result of my surgery.
I have to go in for a procedure next monday to see if one of my ureters were damaged in the surgery or if I developed small hole in the bladdar from surgery.
I just hope to get the problem diagnosed and fixed quickly. I never expected this complication....It was hard enough to have the lap, and accept giving up my uterus...

thanks again for sharing.

You must get the leak taken care of soon. I have a friend who had leakage and the doctor kept putting her off. Because he waited so long, the hole in the bladder got so big, when a urologist went to operate on her, he could not perform the surgery. She had to go to another state to a really, really good specialist. They had to put a patch on it like a tire. It may not hold forever. I am not trying to scare you, but I know from her experience and her talking to several doctors, that urine should not be leaking from the vagina. If there is a hole, it needs to be repaired.

Hi,

thanks for your note.
I know I am very worried about the leak....I have been waiting two weeks with a cathader and I am ready to go out of my mind. Not to mention the pain of the cathedar.
I have been pushing the doctor to get me taken care of.....I have to have a procedure on monday, systoscopy and urologist is going to look for the leak...I hope he can repair at same time, if not I will have to have another procedure...They are not sure exactly where the hole is yet, I hope they will find it soon....
Please pray for me.

Did the dr tell you how the hole got there in the first place? Hmm. I am 11 weeks out from my LSH. So far so good. My left side incision was very angry for awhile. Very bruised. But nothing too bad. My dr. explained that he uses the right "hole" to cut from and the left is for the suction and removal of tissue. In my case the uterus was bigger than he thought and it took alot longer to pull it all out thru the left. That's where the bruising came in. But I am very happy with the procedure.
