Really Scared

I am scheduled for TAH 02/26/10 and I am really scared. There are so many things running through my mind I can't stand it ! But I'm reading all the stories posted on this site and I feel a little better. I still have so much to get done before surgery, yet I'm sitting here watching the snow come down.

Re: Really Scared

Teri, I think we were all really scared before surgery; I know I was! You are NOT alone in this!

Everything will be fine... you will get through it. The waiting truly is the hardest part, but before you know it, you will be on the post-op side of things then it will all seem like such a long time ago that you were so worried...

In the meantime, if the snow is calming to you, then by all means watch the snow fall. Everything will get taken care of before your trip the castle. Enjoy some quiet time if you can!

Healing hugs to you and best wishes for your surgery! See you on the post-op boards!

Don't forget to pamper the

Re: Really Scared

I too had tons of stuff today before the surgery, but the most important thing is for you to be ready mentally. Everything else will fall into place.

Re: Really Scared

You have two weeks left. That is plenty of time to take care of what you need. My surgery is on the 23rd. As I get closer I have moments of worry and moments of calm. By all means do things that encourage calm. Watching snow fall is pretty cool.

I keep reminding myself that the people doing the surgery on doing what they do best. They are professionals and do this all the time. You are in the best hands. Trust things to be ok.

Good luck.

Re: Really Scared

It's okay to be scared , I know I am. I try to keep busy with my family and try to remember to do something relaxing.

The snow sounds really pretty and peaceful. In Texas we don't see much snow. smile

Keep reading the positive stories here.

Just remember that soon we will be on the postop side and we will have our smiles back and feel so much better.

Re: Really Scared

I did the very same thing before my surgery. I sat around and did nothing until the very last minute. I just didn't feel like doing anything. I think this is just all part of the feeling we are going through. You'll get it done and be ready in no time.

Re: Really Scared

The road to the castle comes with its ups and downs. I know I only had 1.5 weeks to prepare and it did NOT seem like enough time, and I was more unmotivated than motivated. I buckled down one day to make some meals ahead of time and honored when I cried in fear. The waiting truly is the worst part. Get movies lined up, a list of friends to phone when the boredom of recovery kicks in, and when you are on the other side, stay on top of the pain, don't chase it. You will feel much better if you can.

Keep swimming! We are all thinking of you!
