Ibs

Since 2005 I have had bad diarrhea and stomach cramps every three to four months. Drs. said it was IBS but was wondering if the IBS was related to having endometriosis since it came around about two weeks after my period each time.

Also can IBS improve after a hysterectomy?

Re: Ibs

I was diagnosed with cyclical IBS related to endo. Mine will hopefully be cured after having endo excised and uterus removed.

Did your surgeon excise endo and was it on your bowels?

Re: Ibs

I've had IBS for years, even before all my menstrual problems began. I heard that the symptoms get worse while menstruating and that it's considered "normal" for someone with IBS. I know they definitely got worse for me. On top of having to deal with the blood, I had to deal with the pooeys (as we call them around here.) It was NOT fun. Glad I don't have to deal with that anymore.

I started taking acidophilus pills a few months ago and noticed an almost immediate improvement. I have diarrhea dominant IBS. My daughter is frequently constipated (but doesn't have IBS). She's figured out that if she eats one Activia yogurt a day, it really helps (also contains acidophilus.)
