Walking is good, right?

I walked a lot for the first 2 days because I could not sit or lay down. As long as you go slow & don't twist around you should be fine. It is the best way to get everything moving again. It helped me a lot. You won't be pain free for a while but as long as your pain doesn't get worse when you walk, I would do as much as you can. I found sitting too long made me feel more pain. But we are all different. I was told to try to walk at least 10 minutes out of each hour. Best wishes.

Walking is good, right?

,

I didnt do too much walking the first few days. I mean I would get up and move around the house but, nothing outside.

At the two week mark, I was fully functional and getting around very well.

Listen to your body, if you are hurting too bad, STOP. You only have one chance to heal correctly. You dont want to rush your recovery. Take it slow and wear shoes with good shock absorbers . I wore my boots with heels waaaaaaay too soon and really had a tough day. Lesson learned!

I hope your recovery is going smoothly.

Walking is good, right?

The second day in the hospital I was told to slow down if it's causing other pains. I just wanted OUT of the Hospital!!

(day 13 P.O.) Now I just do what I feel comfortable with 10-15mins. of slow walking every couple hours.
Lookingforasis said it best!!!! Take it slow!!

Happy recovery Sisters!!

Yes, walking is good for you but not if you are in pain from it!

In the early days I tried to walk around the house for 5 minutes each hour, very slowly and with a hand over whatever bit was hurting! And then I built up from there, still going at my own pace but increasing the time I was active.

I was very lucky and after the first week I could go out & about with my sister to the shops or park for about 30-45 minutes without any pain but I did need to rest afterwards.

Walking is good, right?

My first 24 hours, i tried to walk around the house about 5 mins every 30 mins for the hgas.....my DH the next day asked me to go up the driveway (it is about 350 feet). I thought, "is he nuts, i haven't slept and can't stand straight and am in pain" but went out of pridbve. It hurt, but was the best thing for me although i did it relunctantly. I am not saying push yourself, but walking is good for you to do reasonably.
