Re: Belly binder needed?

I bought the one from this site (Hystersisters). I think it's the Abdominal Binder ( I know it's the one where you can put a cool pack in it - or heat the pack if you want heat). I can't say enough about how helpful it was. I also had a LSH (July 13, 2010). I'm still in recovery mode. I used the binder every day and night for the first 2 weeks then I mainly used it during the day when I walked around. It really holds you in. I'd describe it like a pair of supportive hands holding you snugly together when your tummy feel as though it wants to fall out ! Your muscles will be sore down in your abdominal area, so, you won't really be able to hold yourself in like you are use to doing.

I didn't use the cold packs until the 3rd week. That's when my incisions started to get firm and itch - the coolness felt good. But for the first 2 weeks, I really just liked the tight holding sensation of the Binder all be itself.

p.s. I also found that string bikini style undies were really great for LSH incisions. I bought a three pack of Fruit of the Loom at Target (in a 3 pack hanging on the wall in the undie dept.) If you are going to get them, make sure they are the STRING style : )

Great success with your surgery!!!

I second that one, pearltree! Ladies, don't be in a rush to wear normal clothes or wear make-up. I have a super cute terry cloth caftan that I wear around the house when I know my Mother-In-Law will be stopping by - just a subtle reminder that I can't keep my house spotless and my kids completely occupied just yet

Re: Belly binder needed?

LOL I have to remember to take that advice myself. My MIL was amazed that I was up and doing things. She said she was in bed for weeks when she had hers done, so I decided I would not try so hard to do for everyone and just relax. I WILL let my hubby and kiddos do for me for as long as I need them to.
