Castle visit tomorrow and having palpitations!!!

I do not want to admit that I'm nervious, but since yesterday my heart has been pounding somethig awful and Im having some strong palpitations that come and go. Went to bed with a headache that lasted all night, I took my BP last night and it was 159/95. This morning is 139/91 just as I was waking up. I dont have heart diseace, but my mother died suddenly of a HA at 56. I am 41. Should I be concerned? Should I call my Dr.? I think this is nothing, but not sure. Any advise????

heart palpitations

Nuny,

Could you be very nervous about the big day at the castle?? I do not want to minimize your concerns, if you think there is truly something wrong, call your doctor and ask if he thinks you need to come by and be checked out. If you are really nervous, that could also be the reason your blood pressure is elevated. If all checks out normal, maybe your doctor could give you something to calm you down a bit to make it easier to get thru the last few hours of waiting. I am also a LIW, but I have seen so many posts saying that the waiting is really much worse than the actual event.

Try taking some slow, deep breaths, exhale very slowly and imagine yourself blowing out the anxiety with each exhale. Try some relaxing activities, a hot bath with candles lit and soft music playing. Call a friend and talk to her about your feelings.

You are going to get thru this and you will do great!! I am praying that your surgery will be 100% normal, minimal discomfort and enormous peace in your heart. You are going to feel so much better!!!

Sending love and hugs....

Joan
