OP TOMORROW - 20th April

Hi Ladies!

I'm from England and have just got the phone call to say I am to be admitted tonight for the op tomorrow morning!

It's been cancelled twice already on the day (in January and March), due to severe bed shortage in UK hospitals so I have got used to the horrible waiting around...

Best wishes to everyone about to have their operations and to those in recovery. All your posts have been invaluable to me over the last few months - thank you!

Many thanks for your best wishes and advice. Yesterday morning my consultant came to see me pre-op and decided NOT to go ahead with the TAH. I'm fifty this year and the initial systems which sparked the investigations that led to the planned hysterectomy have gone (Numbness around my trunk and vulva area).

The surgeon said he didn't want to cut me up unnecessarily and would monitor me over the next few years. The investigations following the numbness indicated I had a few fibroids, my uterus is 3.5 months pregnancy size and in an odd positon. My periods also stopped at this time (last November).

He says the menopause will shrink the fibroids and that I should hang on to my flat tummy while I can!

So I was whipped into surgery for bladder repair (tape) and was allowed home last night.
