Question and Concern

My question is has anyone here had any trouble with acne or facial hair growth that was improved with your hysterectomy?? I will be having a TAH/BSO on 12/7. I have a history of endo, cysts, polyps, fibroids, suspected adeno. I have had problems with the acne and hair since the birth of my middle child. I was treated for a couple of years with spirnolactone and it did help. I was told this was happening because of hormones.

Now my concern...just wondering if there are any comments to this: I was reading the post of having your husband there for pre-op. I would love to have mine there, but I am afraid that he will find out how much I actually weigh!! Is this crazy? I don't think he has any idea that I am about 50 pounds more than he is. This is so embarassing to me. I think I carry it well and he knows that I am overweight...but I don't think that he has any idea exactly how much I do weigh. I am just so afraid that I will be asked about my weight while he is there before surgery.

Thanks for reading!

Question and Concern

Dear Krissieva.

For me personally, my skin has not looked this good since I was in high school. I had a TAH ww/BSO on 9/19/05. One plus from the hysterectomy.

I did break out soon right after surgery and have had no problem since. I have battled adult acne since my twenties. I am now 43. I never had children. I have been on Accutane in my 20's and have been using the Proactive Solution products for the last 4 years or so. Hopefully will not need them anymore. I still have some trouble w/hair on my chin. I am on an estrogen patch called Vivelle and it seems to be working great.

As far as the weighing in goes, I had my whole family with me @ the hospital before surgery and believe me-I did not want anyone to know how much I weighed either . I aksed them to weigh me @ my pre-op several days before my surgery and they were more than happy to do so.

I am 6 weeks out today and really starting to feel great.
Despite some complications in surgery, NONE of this has even come close to the pain I experienced w/ my periods. By reading your post, I see we have similar problems. You are going to do just fine. Waiting is the hardest part.

Best wishes w/your surgery. If you have any questions, feel free to email me

Question and Concern

Krissieva,

LOL about the weight thing. I too do not wish to have my husband know how much I weigh. Like you he knows I am a little overweight but does no know "the number". Heck right now I don't know the number and I have no desire to find out right now. Last time I had surgery they announced the number right in front of him. "So you weigh ......" Great move I thought. My surgery is scheduled for the day after yours. My sister in law works in the same day surgery department and will be there when I check in. I don't know how to get out of having her check me in as they are the ones who weigh you and get you changed in your gown and all. She said she will make sure she takes care of me. Great- now the whole family will know? How embarrassing! I wonder if there is any way to lose 30# before then. I'm guessing the bowel prep probably won't take care of that. I do not want to know myself as I am depressed enough. Good luck and keep in touch. We will be going through it together.

Question and Concern

My mom had terrible skin before her hysterectomy. Now she has a lovely complexion. Lets hope ours will be the same! Good luck with your op.
