4 days post-op, getting better

I am now 4 days post-op, my total laparoscopic was Monday, June 20th at 7:30 am. The nurses and doctors were amazed at how well everything went, didn't even need pain meds until that evening. The gas pains got excruciating Monday night and I was up most of the time but am past that now. I have been walking a little bit, sitting up more, and took a shower today. The incisions are pretty sore, but all in all it's not as bad as what I anticipated. In fact, I believe I had more pain dealing with severe cramps before with the monthly cycles that I could never get a break from. Hope all the other princesses are doing well!

Re: 4 days post-op, getting better

I had LAVH on June 10th and recovering well too. Some days are great, feel like I can do more, then tired the next. I am driving and doing pertty normal activity, but do have to rest in afternoons. Had my 2 week postop and Dr said I was doing great. Have to remind myself this was major surgery and stop before I lift a laundry basket or bend to pick up stuff. Happy you are doing so great, hope the rest of your recovery goes well.

Re: 4 days post-op, getting better

Hi Yeppers,
Glad you are doing well too. I know what you mean about being careful to not overdo it. As I start to feel better, I go to get up from bed or a chair too fast and feel the effects. I know better to not do that and take everything slow. It has been a relief being able to shower almost normally (with the exception of bending down too much) and eat more than just broth and mashed potatoes.
My DH has been awesome making blueberry-banana smoothies for me, my Mom, & Grandma (who are visiting from PA to help out). I am truly blessed and believe they are a huge reason I am doing this well.
I am a little nervous about driving or even riding in the car, envisioning how the bumps would feel. Oh well, I'll just concentrate on staying home for a while.
Good luck to all the other patients out there!
