yeast infections & post-op hygiene
I have a yeast infection which I haven't had in decades b4 surgery. since there is no longer any sort of flow going on, i am wondering if women are more at risk for this sort of thing after hysterectomy.
Also, I thought that you were not really supposed to douche. Have you done this after hysterectomy and do you do it on a regular basis?

Did you by chance have to be put on antibiotics? And as far a doucheing, I asked my Dr, and he said that I could, I have and had no problems, actually made me feel alot better.

you can get yeast infections from douching...they really can mess up your vaginal ph. i would never use a douche. have you been on any antibiotics? also, hormone imbalances can give you yeast infections.

I got a prescription for terconazole cream tar today. (I have not been taking antibiotics.)
I am hoping to avoid more infections. Do you think i should get my hormone levels checked? I was just at the doc's office yesterday, but hormones were not mentioned. I could call and ask...

I quit douching years ago because every time I did I would get a yeast infection. As "dressedup" pointed out, it messes up the ph balance in your vagina and causes yeast infections.

I too have had the yeast infection, along with an UTI. I've been on three antibiotics, finished one on Monday, one today and one tomorrow. They would not prescribe a vaginal cream as they didn't want that "up there."

No, the nurse said they just don't recommend them after surgery.
