Did you wish you had?

If you were not required to have a bowel prep before your hyst, did you wish you would have afterwards? I think this should be posted in another forum- ?? Just wondering.

Did you wish you had?

Hi,

I wasn't required to do a bowel prep when I had my surgery two years ago, and I didn't have any problems at all after surgery.

It's vital that you only do what your doctor requires, no more, no less. This is for safety reasons. A bowel prep can cause dehydration, and if your doctor isn't aware of this, it could jeopardize your surgery and recovery.

Best wishes and s,

Lisa

Did you wish you had?

I can't remember if I had a bowel prep. I did start taking stool softener a few days before surgery so I wouldn't be constipated. I didn't take a laxative--just the stool softener. I had NO gas after my surgery.

What I *did* do also was drink a ton of water on the two days before surgery. That made it easier to do the IV. On the day before surgery I ate very lightly. That helped me a lot after surgery as far as preventing nausea.
