Had a Tvh on 4/5/2005

I had my TVH on 4/5/2005. I came home on Wednesday 4/6/2005. I kept my overies. I feel pretty good . I have some trouble sleeping and alot on legs cramps (charlie horses). I think the gas the first two days was the worst.

Hi there!

Welcome home from the castle, princess!!

Great to hear that you are home and recuperating. About the leg cramps, bananas usually help me with those....but bananas may constipate, too, so be sure to drink plenty of water and take those short easy walks around the house several times a day-- don't go too long without moving the bowels before consulting the DR if that issue should develop.

The gas is something I think most, if not all of us experience after this surgery. It can be quite painful!! Be sure and avoid gassy foods and any carbonated drinks. Don't drink anything through a straw, either -- You might give Beano or Gas-X a try. Shift positions (carefully) every so often (that can sometimes help trapped gas to get moving out of a tender area).

I hope you find your recovery to be a smooth, relaxing one! Please don't hesitate for a minute to call the DR with anything that concerns you; this is a very delicate stage of healing.

Take good care of you!

When the gas gets really bad try putting towel in the dryer for 10 or 15 minutes and then hold on your tummy, that will help to get the gas moving too.

If you have a heating pad use that as well. It also works. I also noticed with the heating pad, and keeping my legs bent while laying down helped out alot!

after transvaginal hysterectomy: when can you drive/climb stairs/do normal activities

I'm having the surgery Monday and want to know what to expect. Everyone says it's much easier when it's transvaginal...I'm having ovaries out, too.
