Anyone have a LAVH with a 16 week uterus??

Hello,
I just found out I have a 16 week uterus and large fibroids, one at 12 cm. I was refered to a surgon that I have only talked to once so far is going to do a LAVH at the end of August. Has anyone out there had a sucessful LAVH with at least a 16 week uterus?? I would love to hear your story... I'm more than a little nervous about it.

I just had a TAH on July 6th and my uterus was the 16-week size. Doctor estimated it to be 10 weeks at the last check up (2 weeks before) but it was much bigger when he got in there. I also had some fibroids. I repeatedly asked my doc about a TVH and he was concerned that the large size would create too many problems and then he would have to still go in abdominally to finish up to prevent blood loss.
I guess it depends on your doctor. You're asking good questions! Keep it up. It's great to have such wonderful resources available to us.

I had a LAVH on Friday July 1. My uterus was 16 week size. My surgery went extremely well. Started at 7:30 am and I was home about 5pm, same day. I only needed perocet for the first two days. After that 600mg motrin worked fine. By Tuesday I was feeling really good, nothing needed for pain and able to do pretty much anything I wanted to do with the exception of heavy lifting. Best of luck to you. Try not to worry...waiting is really the worst part. You will hear that alot on here, and it is TRUE. I would happy to answer any other questions you may have.

Thanks Brenda for the support and Thank you Sea1960, I felt so much better hearing that you had a LAVH with a 16 week uterus and it went smooth.... You ladies are the BEST!! I agree that waiting is the hardest part and trying to deal with this belly that seems to get in my way!!
