Is this my pre-op?

Finally got a callback and my appointment with the gyn/onc is this coming Thursday. I'm nervous but ready to get on with this!

Would this visit be my pre-op? The girl I talked to on the phone must have been new or something, she said it would be bloodwork and a consultation, but wasn't sure if I'd need another exam or not. I'm not sure what exactly to expect, but my DH is going with me just in case. Plus I don't like driving in Dallas, lol.

Hi Branfran! Im in the Dallas area too! I hear ya on the driving here, can be a royal pain. Glad you have your husband to drive ya and give comfort.

Sounds like a pre op to me. They can be different depending on your doctor but it seems most do blood work and consult. Mine was blood work, EKG and X-ray. Pretty easy. Good luck!

Well that's good to know, I was afraid he'd want to do another exam, but I guess he has all the info he needs since I had to sign a form to get lab results sent to him.

I'm just hoping I won't have to pay a big lump sum up front, like I've read some ladies here had to. I've started getting bills from my gyn because when my insurance switched, she went out of network and I didnt know. Luckily the gyn-onc is an in network provider!

If this doc has never seen you before it is very likely he will want to do an exam. I had four different exams by four different surgeons before my surgery. You would have though that they could have just read the notes but they each wanted to see for themselves.

Ugh...crossing my fingers I won't need another exam! It seems like I've had something stuck up there once a week for the past month, lol.

I can't have exams done when I am conscious because it so incredibly painful and traumatizing. You don't have to have an exam at the pre-op - let them do it while you are out during the surgery.

They're not painful to me, I just don't want to have to do it again. I guess I'm just anxious to get the surgery behind me and hopefully be done with it all.
