5 wks post -op and vacation?

I will be having a da Vinci total on Nov 19 and wondering what those of you who have already had their hyster think if you would have been able to take a 4-5 hr flight somewhere 5 weeks after hyster? I know everyone is different but wanting to hear how you felt at about that time . Thx! :-)

I am 4 weeks today (with a really good recovery) .if my husband came home and said "hey lets go to Mexico next week" as much as I would hate to say no, I would wait another month for sure!

5 weeks post-op for a 4-5 hour flight and vacation is probably pushing it. There are also risks for blood clots flying so soon after major surgery. You need to discuss this with your doctor if you want to push through with this to get clearance.

While my surgery was different than yours, there is no way I could have flown that soon. I was not in any shape - physically, emotionally, or mentally - that close to surgery to deal with travel. We actually had to cancel our travel plans for that very reason . I had to fly on a family emergency about 7 months post-op, and that was doable (but not great).

I had a laparascopic surgery which was minimally invasive - but I didn't have the stamina for travel five weeks after. I'm seven weeks post-op and I still don't have the stamina for doing a lot of walking.

Ya, it's the stamina I was worried about.
