Re: I think I'm a wreck!

These are all great comments, and brought tears to my eyes. I don't know the initials, but I am having a laparoscopic total hysterectomy BSO this Friday. I was doing well emotionally until yesterday, when I began to be a little sad and fearful. (I found out that I had endomentrial cancer less than a week ago, so I think the info may just be starting to sink in.) I also think I am one who will need to take a break from this wonderful Website from time to time as my trip to the castle gets closer. Some things I have found helpful are deep breathing, prayer, talking with friends and my two biological sisters, thinking positive, getting out of the house, and rereading reassuring emails that I have received from my doctors. I have ordered a book about preparing for surgery with a relaxation audiotape, and will let you all know if I like it. I know we will all get through this, and I am grateful for the support at this site.

Re: I think I'm a wreck!

Just try to relax, I had mine VH and was able to keep my ovaries, on July 4 this year. The night before I was so upset I was crying, my husband asked me if we should cancel the surgery, after talking with him about why I was upset / afraid of, etc... I felt better, and I'm SO GLAD I did it. I also had a rectolcye repair at the same time.
I can tell you that I'm doing GREAT and so happy I finally did it. I may not be the norm, but I'm back at work already, I'm watching what I do, I don't lift anything over 10 lbs, I make my husband do it, I try to put my feet up as much as I can and getting as much rest as poss, and just remember, its ok to be scared, just don't let it get the better of you. Oh and I only spent 20hr in my hosp room after surgery. Good luck the hard part is over, just make the choice to do.
