Advice about sex? I'm about to sched my hyst and this is worrying me a lot!

Are you worried about sex after surgery? Initially, you will be restricted from sexual activity for probably at least six weeks - sometimes even more.

After you are cleared, it really varies from woman to woman, and can depend on your experience now.

I had a TAH BSO and for me, sex feels different - I miss the muscle contraction. My orgasms are not as intense, BUT they are more frequent. Go figure. We also need to use lubrication, which frustrates me.

Getting this part of your life back can take some patience and some work. But you will figure it out.

Hi Tjwilson71. There are several types of hysterectomies and each person will have different experiences according to the type. Like Marestail, I had a TAH BSO and had to wait at least 6 weeks. I also had hormonal issues. But in the end, it was worth the wait. My sex life is good and I don't have to schedule my life around my monthly cycle. I also can wear pretty panties and white pants! There are many good things to look forward to. This website is great and everyone's input has helped me greatly. Hugs to you!!

I too had a TAH BSO & Bladder lift. My experience is that sex is Wonderful - even better than before. Orgasms are easier to achieve now and feel more of the all over kind, very intense. I think faithfully doing Kegel exercises helped restore muscle tone to the pelvic floor. I'm on HRT and used lube for the 1st time. Never have needed it since. Used it then just because I was scared.
Ditto on Prickleys comment. Ready for fun anytime now is wonderful. And loving wearing white without worry.
