Re: Returning to work tomorrow after hysterectomy, In need of encouragement

I returned to work in my 2nd week postop. While it was not and still is not easy, it really was good to get back in the swing of things. I work in a busy dermatology office, where I am on my feet and running around (sometimes literally...it's a crazy office!) all day. My coworkers and boss have been as understanding as they can be, considering none of them has any idea what I am going through. Yes, I am really tired sometimes. Sometimes I need to rest a bit. But everyone understands and we trade off duties to help me as much as possible. It's been great, really. I have no regrets. I just rest as much as possible and think about everything I do; if I should not do something, I don't do it and someone else has to! Good luck to you. Just remember it is not a crime at all to take care of yourself as well.

Re: Returning to work tomorrow after hysterectomy, In need of encouragement

I went back to work just one day ago.....I was totally scared and physically shaking in the car park on Monday morning! Teaching is a profession you just can't go easy...I knew I would be in the thick of it from the moment I walked through the school gates. ANYWAY, it was not as bad as I thought. Yes I was sore and tired but not exhausted. I decided to just chill out a little and only go slow.....not stress like I did before surgery! The first step will be the worst but cross that bridge and you will be ok! Just look aft yourself....my colleagues don't understand why I am still sore, walking slowly and taking pain meds....but who cares.....?

Re: Returning to work tomorrow after hysterectomy, In need of encouragement

I've went back after 2 1/2 weeks but I did 2-3 hours a day for the first week. The second week I went back full time but was in a lot of discomfort and was lucky if I stayed awake past 6:30. This is my 3rd week back and I'm finally not ready for a nap at 1:00. Sitting is probably the most uncomfortable thing for me, things get achy, so I try to get up a walk around the halls every hour or so. Supportive tights, leggings, belly binder and low compression tank tops have really helped also with the swells belly so common after a days work. Good luck and please, take it easy.

Well, I made it! Hit a wall with fatigue right before lunch then picked up a bit after I ate and rested. Soooo tired now but soreness is not bad. Thank you so much for all the support ladies! You are all amazing.
