Sneeze

I sneezed yesterday and it felt like I ripped something. I put ice on the area that was hurting. This morning it is somewhat better. Did anyone have this problem ? I think I will be calling the dr this morning.

Re: Sneeze

Sneezing, coughing, laughing - all can be painful. Many of our sisters suggest a small pillow gently pressed against your tummy can help cushion the blows. It helps!

Re: Sneeze

I'm one week post op today and oh yes, sneezing or coughing hurts! I try to sneeze less violently when I need to sneeze and that seems to help a little, or I try to sit bent forward a bit when sneezing so my stomach muscles aren't as stretched out as when laying down. Definitely going to try the pillow trick as well!

No harm in calling your doctor though if in doubt or the discomfort after your sneeze lingers.

Re: Sneeze

Yes ma'am, I think we've all been there! When I was about a week post op I got sick from my antibiotics. Retching a matter of days after an abdominal surgery was the worst! The pillow trick does work wonders.

Re: Sneeze

The first time I sneezed I writhed in pain afterwards for awhile. I could have sworn I tore something but all was good. Pillows work but after I could handle a little pressure pressing down on the part of my abdomen that hurt the worst during a sneeze with my hand worked better. The point is to stabilize the area and keep it from poking out as much.

Re: Sneeze

I had a ling infection the day after surgery so I coughed for 3 days and it was awful!! I had an abdominal binder and a pillow pressed down on my tummy and it still hurt! The only was it hurt less was to sit forward with the pillow to try and stifle the cough or sneeze. Not fun! Lol good luck!
