TVH on 9/15 and doing great

I joined this site a week before my surgery and it has been a godsend. I read hundreds of posts, some scared me and some relieved me. I wanted to know the good and bad. Well here is my story. I have had low grade squamas cells on my paps for the past several years. My doctor felt that I should have the hyterectomy before it gets worse. I scheduled a TVH before the summer for 9/15. I was able to pretty much not think about the upcoming surgery until two weeks ago. I WILL TELL YOU THAT THE WAIT IS WORSE THAT POST-OP. My surgery was scheduled for 9:30 AM. I arrived an hour before. I did not go in for surgery until 1:30. The anesthiesologist came to see me and really wanted to to have a morphine block with the general. I told him that I wanted no pain meds since they make me very loopy and nausaus. I finlly agreed to some pain med in my I.V. The surgery took about 2-3 hours due to having a large uterus. I came out of surgery with no pain, but had alot of nausea. I was in my room by 5pm. I only took Motrin for lower back ache. No other pain. I was scheduled to go home the next day but when they removed my cathader I was unable to urinate and felt like I had a severe UTI. They put the cathader back in and started me on antibiotics. The next morning I was able to pee on my own and left the hospital. I am only taking Motrin and doing fine. It is day 4 since the surgery and I feel terrific (knock on wood). I'm glad I had the procedure. For all of you in waiting stay calm. What ever pain you have hopefully won't last long.
