not sure what to do about this....any advice?

oh- my daughter is ok, swollen fingers and some missing skin, but she'll be ok

Oh my goodness- a very natural reaction. I would ring and check just to reassure yourself. I teach 7 year olds and this was the reason I was advised to take the full amount of time off from work! By the way, I was also told at about 4/5 weeks that dange is caused if you carry on doing something that really hurts you. Good luck!!
