Anyone had Sacrocolpopexy along with Hysterectomy ???

I am just wondering if there are any ladies out there in the forum who have had their Sacrocolpopexy procedure done along with their hysterectomy?. What have they been experiencing so far in their recovery time ? how long do doctors say ur cleared for anything ... and how have you been feeling since. I wanna get an over view of ladies that have had the same procedure so i can see if we have different recovery time and limitation then the other ladies who have had just hysterectomies.

Anything would be appreciated.

Re: Anyone had Sacrocolpopexy along with Hysterectomy ???

I had a VH with bladder sling and repairs done on Mar. 22, then an ABSO and Sacrocolpopexy done on May 3. I chose to do the two surgeries because of all the repairs. In hindsight, I would now do it all in one abdominal surgery.

I was made aware before my surgery that there would be a 12 week recovery period. No bending, lifting, housework, etc. The only think I could do was walk as I felt able. I followed DRs orders very closely as he explained that it takes 12 weeks for the body to heal to 80 %, and the scar tissue is what holds all these repairs. It is imperative not to disrupt all of these stitches. I am now 6 mo. po from the first surgery, and I am doing well. Still get aches and twinges, especially at my incision (5" bikini cut) site, but that is to be expected. I also added extra time to my recovery after the 2nd surgery just to be on the safe side, although my DR said to ease back into my normal routine. The time went so fast, I had no problem doing the 16 week. I am just very happy to have all this behind me, and to be feeling so great! I also have a lifting restriction of 30 lbs. for the rest of my life, but that is okay since I left my job that contributed to my prolapse issues. I will just have to be aware of my limitations now.

I hope this gives you a little information on another of the same surgery. Hope you are doing well!

Re: Anyone had Sacrocolpopexy along with Hysterectomy ???

Kristilou I appreciate so much of you reply. I also got the same recovery time before i can go back to normal activity including sex. Went to the Dr's at 6wks hoping i get cleared for sex and it was a no go. Dr said not until 6 more weeks ( a total of 12 weeks). I am am trying my best to stay with the Dr. recommendations of my limitations but with both my kids under 5 years old ... is pretty much hard. I am on and off of feeling good one week and bad the other week... trying to once again be patient has i was thinking all was good to go. Anyways I hope you keep recovery well in your surgeries and thanks once again for your feedback.

Re: Anyone had Sacrocolpopexy along with Hysterectomy ???

I had a deVinci sacrocolpopexy/hysterectomy on Sept 15 at Mayo. I think I'm doing pretty well, very little pain (off heavy meds since day 3, off the OTC counter stuff since the 2 week mark). I'm taking it really, really easy--lots of knitting and old movies. My doc said not to lift over 15 # for 6 weeks, but I'm going with not lifting anything that even causes a little twing in my belly. My goal is to heal as well and smoothly as possible, no matter how slow it seems to be going. I'm a designer/builder specializing in residential house construction and I have a lot of decades ahead of me. My doc says if I do the healing right, I will be able to lift 80# again without problems. I figure I can take the fall off if I can get my life back.
